New cardiology program

Microaxial LVAD, insertion, surgical, removal

Three new items cover procedures using an intravascular microaxial left ventricular assist device (LVAD). They apply to cardiogenic shock that optimal medical therapy has not controlled. Eligibility requires deteriorating symptoms or established ECMO unloading.

Workforce expansion

Midwife attendance schedule expanded

New items for participating midwives: long antenatal attendance (82102, $127.00), complex antenatal leading to hospital admission (82103, $234.20, capped at 3 per pregnancy), long postnatal attendance (82104, $186.75). Nurse practitioner attendance items added for ≥60 min in-person (82216) and video (91206) at $131.20 each.

Optometry

11 new + 6 deleted

New optometry-performed computerised perimetry items for high-progression-risk glaucoma (10938 bilateral, 10939 unilateral). Six contact-lens follow-up items deleted (10912, 10922, 10923, 10925) along with 2 flag-fall items (10932, 10933).
