From 1 November 2026, the MBS adds 4 phone items for GP chronic condition management plans. Schedule fees stay the same. The 85% benefit is lower on 329 items, by $4.00 on 305 of them.
From 1 November 2026, a general practitioner or a prescribed medical practitioner may prepare or review a GP chronic condition management plan by phone. Each new item pays 100% of its fee.

The 85% benefit falls by $4.00 on 305 items, and by $0.50 to $3.70 on 24 items with schedule fees from $700.00 to $721.50. Schedule fees stay the same. For a service out of hospital, the greatest permissible gap caps the difference between the schedule fee and the 85% benefit. The 1 November 2026 schedule applies a greatest permissible gap of $108.50, up from $104.50.

Item 45518 is the revision of a scar longer than 7 cm, other than on the face or neck. From 1 November 2026, a specialist may perform item 45518 outside a hospital, where it pays an 85% benefit.

92063, 92064: the same services by a prescribed medical practitioner.
Of the 125 reworded descriptions, 108 replace “residential aged care facility” with “residential care home”, the term the Aged Care Act 2024 uses. Of the other 17, 15 are items with rule changes on this page and 2 are corrections to wording. Thirteen descriptions also list the new phone items among related items.

From 1 November 2026, the MBS adds 4 phone items for GP chronic condition management plans. Schedule fees stay the same. The update rewords 125 item descriptions, changes the benefit type of 1 item and lowers the 85% benefit on 329 items.
From 1 November 2026, the MBS holds 6,050 items. The update adds 4 items and keeps all 6,046 existing items. Item 73331, added on 1 August 2026, took the count from 6,045 to 6,046.
The update adds 4 phone items for GP chronic condition management plans. A general practitioner prepares or reviews a plan under items 92033 and 92034, and a prescribed medical practitioner does the same under items 92063 and 92064.
Schedule fees stay the same on 1 November 2026. The 85% benefit falls on 329 items, by $4.00 on 305 of them. The 1 November 2026 schedule applies a greatest permissible gap of $108.50, up from $104.50, which caps the difference between an item's schedule fee and its 85% benefit.
From 1 November 2026, a participating nurse practitioner may refer a patient for a bone density scan. The MBS calls the scan bone mineral densitometry, and its items are 12306 to 12322.
